This original paintings measure 14' X 14", 6" X 8" and 6" X 6". They are displayed in a custom made, ready to hang frame.
These paintings were all done on location at Leo Carrillo State Beach in Malibu. They were done on early morning excursions to catch the timeless character of the light and enjoy the calm that the sea exudes at daybreak. I have camped and surfed at this beach since I was a young child and its one of my favorite places.
If you are local to LA, items will be available for pick-up on Saturday, October 26th. If shipping is required, there will be an additional fee.
About the artist: My name is Tom Chambers. I grew up in L.A. and I love the unique landscapes of our region. I am inspired by finding moments of surprising beauty in these everyday landscapes. I have come to cherish the many easily accessible open spaces that give respite to the energy and demands of our city. Most of my paintings are done on location (or based on studies done on location) in these open spaces; many of which are within 15 minutes of my home or work. Painting has been a way for me to more deeply enjoy the blessing of these places and see them more fully. I am often struck by seeing a familiar landscape transformed by changes in light and season. I want my paintings to freeze these moments when the familiar becomes profoundly new. It is in these moments when my deep connection to these landscapes meets a deep longing for a landscape I have not yet seen. I paint in hopes of being able to in some way communicate and share these moments with others. I hope they are a blessing to you!
