InsightLA has several retreat options to suit your busy schedule. Please choose one that resonates with you. Their retreats allow you to step out of the complexity of your life, and listen deeply to your body, heart and mind. A retreat provides a wonderful opportunity and caring container to deepen your meditation practice.
Most courses follow a typical daily schedule that begins at 5:30 am and end at 10:00 pm. The day is spent in silent practice with alternate periods of sitting and walking meditation. There are three meals a day--breakfast, lunch and a light dinner. In addition, comprehensive meditation instruction and talks about the Buddha?s teachings are also offered daily. Group or individual meetings with the teachers about meditation practice take place at regular intervals over the course of your retreat.
A short work-as-practice period is set aside each day, usually lasting 45 minute to one hour. This gives retreatants an opportunity for mindfulness during everyday activities, from chopping vegetables and washing dishes to vacuuming or cleaning bathrooms. This voluntary service period is essential to the smooth operation of InsightLA and allows courses to be provided at affordable rates. The retreat environment, with its simple yet nourishing lifestyle has been developed over several decades and is designed to support and enhance your meditation practice.
Located just a 2.5 hour drive from Los Angeles, Big Bear Retreat Center is nestled in the ancient Juniper woodlands of the San Bernardino Mountains near the town of Big Bear, California. The tranquil property is immediately adjacent to the National Forest and offers access to roughly 1,300 acres of conserved lands.
The property consists of eleven separate buildings for dining, meditating, and sleeping. The single-story residence buildings include both single and double rooms. There is a mirror and a small clothes-hanging area in each room. Two bathrooms are located in each building. Accommodation for the successful bidder will be in a shared room.
