Artist Bio:

The paintings of Fran Mangino are a testament to her determination to clarify and to capture a vision informed by her life experiences, by both the measurable and the abstract.

Mangino explores the mysterious terrain between what can be measured by physical senses and what can be perceived only by emotions. She found the vibrancy of transparent watercolors best expressed these impressions. There was a transition from using photographs to paint from in the studio to the excitement of plein air where she shares the character of each location as found.

Mangino has won numerous awards at plein air competitions around the country. Awards and juried competitions for this year (so far) include 12th Biennial National Art Exhibition Visual Arts Center Punta Gorda; Visual Arts Center Punta Gorda Plein Air Exhibition Merit Award; Florida Merit Award Punta Gorda; Florida Suncoast Watercolor Society Merit Award; Art at The Arnold Columbus, Ohio 2020; and Forgotten Coast 2020 Watercolor Ambassador.

Mangino was a participant in the American Watercolor Society 150th Anniversary International Exhibition. She has also been published in North Light Publications 2017 Art Journal Animals; 2014 Splash, A Retrospective 20 Years; Splash 11, 10, 9, 8; Issue of Paint 1-2-3 magazine, 1st issue; and The Artist Magazine, Dec. 2001, including finalist in Animals and Still Life Divisions.

Mangino's goals are to constantly strive to improve her work and paint until she cannot paint anymore.
