This bowl-shaped basket was handwoven with raffia and banana leaves, dyed with natural dyes, by one of a community of AIDS widows in the foothills of the Ruwenzori Mountains of Uganda. These HIV positive women are members of KIDA, a local outreach to families affected by HIV/AIDS. The proceeds from their sales allow these widows to pay school fees for their children.
Basket measures 12 inches in diameter and 2 inches high. Comes with a hanging loop. Very sturdy. Use it as a fruit basket or bread basket. It looks fabulous on a table or hung on the wall. Makes a nice gift.
Item is subject to California sales tax and shipping cost, if shipped.
