Description

Blue bowl with squares by Peter Deneen

Measures approx 9.25" diam. 5.50" deep

I was first introduced to Marguerite during the spring of my sophomore year at Luther College in 1968.  I was taking my first semester of pottery with Dean Schwarz who arranged for Marguerite to come and give a workshop for his students.  It was during that workshop that she had a cancellation for her summer class at Pond Farm.  She asked if there were any students who would like to come.  I was doing well with my throwing and enjoyed working with clay so I asked to be considered. That summer I attended Pond Farm?s 9 week session and began learning how to make beautiful pottery in a beautiful landscape.  Marguerite?s lessons about how to live an artful life as a craftsman and her telling me I could become a potter gave me direction and discipline for the rest of my life.  I have practiced following her example often asking myself ?how would Marguerite do this? and ?what would Marguerite think of that? and for this I am forever grateful.
