Description

You are bidding on a 16X20 framed original acrylic on canvas by Larry "Kip" Hayes donated by Gallery 600 Julia and a $75 gift certificate to Alltmont Framing.

Larry "Kip" Hayes paints Louisiana folk ways in his 2018 show "Cotton Fields Back Home". A multi-talented oil painter, he is from Broussard, Louisiana, has been sketching and painting since high school. In the 1970s, Hayes applied his talents as a freelance photographer to his art. He began reinterpreting his photographs of barns, farmlands, and bayous onto canvas. The paintings, in both oil and acrylic, nostalgically portray south Louisiana's natural beauty and her unique agrarian culture.

Gallery 600 Julia, is owned and operated by Dr. Susan Saward, the former manager of Jean Bragg Gallery of Southern Art. It is located at the corner of Julia and Camp Streets in the historic 1832 Julia Row in the thriving Arts District of New Orleans. Under the experienced and able curatorship of art historian Susan Saward, it features emerging and established Louisiana artists in changing monthly solo and group shows. With a superior and varied selection of artistic style and technique, the gallery showcases fine paintings of the Southern Louisiana landscape as well as the street scenes and lively culture, which make New Orleans unique.
