Description

Enjoy a 4-night stay in a yurt for 2 adults at Quirky Camping in the Dordogne, France.

Quirky Camping offers ecological glamping holidays in yurts located in the Dordogne countryside. It is run by Wendy and Matt Meers at their smallholding, where they aim to offer guests an opportunity to come to relax, unwind and enjoy a bit of their good life. They make the yurts themselves using homegrown willow for the structures and enjoy furnishing the comfortable interiors with up-cycled treasures found at local brocantes.

Description: Three luxury yurt retreats, hidden away amongst the rolling and tranquil countryside of the north Dordogne just an hours drive from Bergerac. Peace, quiet and real relaxation is guaranteed in this secluded space. There are magnificent views, stunning sunsets and wildlife on your doorstep, Stretch out on the terrace loungers to enjoy a spell of star gazing whilst sharing a bottle of your favourite wine it's very likely that you will be rewarded!

Each yurt has been lovingly hand-made here at Quirky Camping using willow from their own plantation. The yurts are much more than just a bedroom, having a spacious living area as well, with polished wooden floors, rugs, chairs and other furniture which have either been given by friends or bought from local brocantes and restored, as the owners love the idea of recycling!  But you don't just get a yurt, each retreat has it's own quirkily built and well equipped summer kitchen, dining terrace and BBQ, as well as a solar powered private bathroom and separate compost toilet, so you are getting much more than just a yurt to sleep in.

The yurts are situated on a smallholding in a beautiful rural location not far from the vibrant little town of Verteillac, where Wendy and Matt are striving to live a sustainable and more self sufficient life-style. Each yurt hideaway is carefully situated to maximise the guests privacy and sense of seclusion as Wendy and Matt really want to ensure that their guests have the opportunity to get away from the hum drum of their hectic everyday lives.

What's Nearby: If you fancy leaving the haven of your yurt hideaway there is so much to see and do. Get on your bike (hire is available) or put on your walking boots and take advantage of the quiet country roads. Or go and discover one of the many places to take a dip, there are lakes, river beaches and lidos or take a canoe and paddle off down the river.

The Dordogne is all about its food (and wine) so a trip to the local town of Riberac for market day is a must on Friday, but other not to miss places to visit are Aubeterre with its extraordinary, monolithic, underground church, river beach and pretty village square, Brantome, know as little Venice of the Dordogne and nearby Bourdeilles with its beautiful chateau.
