About the Artist:
Fernando Micheli is a longtime resident of Laguna Beach, CA, and a member of Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, American Institute of Impressionists, and the California Plein Air Painters. Micheli was born in Fiano, a small village near Lucca, Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1955. He grew up in San Francisco and upon completing high school, pursued schooling in Italy for two years. This allowed him the time to travel and attain the language fluency needed to pursue Art and Architecture there. Micheli eventually longed to return to the United States to pursue a design-oriented profession in Landscape Architecture at UC Berkeley College of Environmental Design, and was licensed in and practiced Landscape Architecture and Urban Design until he retired in 2014.
In June of 2014, Micheli made a life-changing decision to pursue his passion for painting. He has focused on the immediacy of Plein Air painting, capturing the beauty of California as well as abroad. He loves En Plein Air and considers it a very enriching avocation, which has also turned into a profession that he is very passionate about. Micheli is also a frequent featured artist at the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach, California.
