A Day Sail on the Waters of Martha's Vineyard
Plan for an extra special day sail on Martha's Vineyard's water on board Woody Bowman's wooden catboat, Julia Lee. Recipients can coordinate with Woody directly to schedule the sail during the 2022 sailing season up through early October. The sail is limited to a maximum of six persons.
The successful bidder will enjoy a private 4-hour sail on board this classic, wooden Cape Cod catboat, exploring the waters between Vineyard Haven and Woods Hole or along the shoreline of Martha's Vineyard. Handling Julia Lee's simple, traditional rig is straightforward, and she features a large, well-protected cockpit, simple amenities, and the delights of depending on the wind (she has a very large sail, but no engine). Depart from her mooring in Vineyard Haven harbor and chart a course to suit the day and wind. Snack, drinks, and water will be provided; picnic lunches can, of course, be brought aboard.
An extra feature of the day will be a tour of the Gannon & Benjamin wooden boatbuilding shop before or after the sail with the chance to talk with Nat Benjamin, one of the two founders.
