Description

STONEWOOD RTR Reserve Meritage Napa Valley 2017: Only 48 cases were produced from the exclusive organically-farmed vineyards of Young Inglewood, situated on coveted benchland terroir nestled up against the Mayacamas Mountains in the St Helena appellation. These vineyards have been producing fruit since the 1870s. Winemaker Scott Young trained at the legendary Domaine Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet and he brings an authentic old-school sensibility to this Bordeaux-inspired blend of Cabernet, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot which was aged 36 full months in custom French oak. Medium-to-fuller bodied, it's got some good bottle age on it now and it's smooth, velvety and a real pleasure to drink. The aromas are sweet and inviting, with roses, violets and fresh wild berries. On the palate, layers of juicy dark cherry, blackberry and plum along with nice touches of classic Napa earthiness and sweet tobacco. It's silky and inviting, a real crowd pleaser, with a long, juicy finish.
