Description

This pot is one in a series of hand built vessels. This Jardiniere (pot) was made for kitchen utensils or as an outer pot to host a cascading plant. My technique: This container was made with a broom stick!

I began by shaping & rolling a 10" long  x 4" wide solid core cylinder, drilled through the center with a broom stick (dowel) then rolled with the dowel evenly to open up the core. Next, I used a thicker dowel to continue stretching the core wider. My hands and some curved rib tools were used to form the shape. I added a base and a slab extension to give the vessel some height and a finished lip. Sometimes I use texture to enhance the vessel. Please look for the seams hidden under the glaze. This piece was fired 2 times - once from greenware to bisque and the 2nd time with 2 glazes presenting a finished product.

Dimensions: 6" tall x 7" wide, opening is 5.5" wide
