Jill Pottle on stilll life painting: "My paintings and drawings have been described as the new realism.  The materials I use to create are oil, acrylics, dry and oil pastels and collage materials.  In my still life work, I am fascinated with common household items that we take for granted.  I look for objects that have been used and loved extensively, in this I can see its life-force.  I explore humor, emotion and relationships (emulating humans), in the grouping of objects.  The controlled lighting and stationary subject matter facilitates the rendering, allowing me to involve myself more directly in the emotional tension between the objects."
