ABOUT THE BEAR: Three-dimensional as per nature - designed to be appreciated for the "graphic" appeal of bears at a distance or close up. The natural coloring celebrates the silhouette effect as in nature giving the viewer an instant recognition of an adult bear with cubs and their primal appeal to young and old alike.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Jo-Ann Denehy is a Whately, MA, artist painting original oils of landscapes and flowers. She was instated as a member of the Springfield Academic Artists in 2004 having met the requirements of nationally juried artwork, is a member of the Old Deerfield Painting Group, and a life member and former VP of the Deerfield Valley Art Association.
Item Special Note
This bear is a large bear. Special note: This bear incorporates three small bears, one of which is loose from the large bear. It can be displayed alongside the large bear and cubs as shown in the first photograph, or on the ground as shown in the second (outdoor) photographs of the bear. The measurements are as follows:
Height: (large Bear) 54" from tip of feet to top of ears, 44" from base (where the bottom sits on base) to ears. Small loose bear cub is approximately 27" high.
Width: circumference - approximately 92" around at the widest point (around the paws and back). Footprint width is 21" and depth is 31".
Weight: This bear weighs approximately 55 lbs.
Other useful information: The bear will come with the log that it was displayed on in the exhibit, and will include the plaque on the log.
The bear is coated with a UV protective clear coat so that the paint will not fade with exposure to the sun.
