One-hour trumpet lesson. Location of the lesson is at the discretion of the instructor.

Trumpeter Charles Lazarus, a member of the Minnesota Orchestra since 2000, was featured as soloist and composer at a Sommerfest 2007 “Night in the Tropics” concert led by Music Director Osmo Vänskä. 

Lazarus made his Carnegie Hall solo debut with the New York String Orchestra at the age of 19 while still a student at the Juilliard School in New York. He has since been a soloist with the North Carolina Symphony, Les Violons du Roy, Les Jeune Virtuoses de Montreal and the McGill Chamber Orchestra. He has been a member of the Dallas Brass, Meridian Arts Ensemble and the Canadian Brass; in addition, he has performed with the New York Trumpet Ensemble, New York Big Brass, London Brass and Montreal Symphony, and with back-up bands for Barry White and Joe Williams. He has recorded with classical, pop, and jazz ensembles, including television and film scores.

Lazarus is an avid proponent of original music and is active as a soloist and composer. He has performed his original compositions at the Montréal and Ottawa international jazz festivals and live on Radio Canada. His compositions have also been featured in two music videos that have aired nationally on Canadian television. His solo CD of original music, Solo Settings, features diverse composers and performers, including members of the Minnesota Orchestra. In 2008 he released a second CD,Zabava.

Lazarus has served on the trumpet faculties of Princeton University and St. Olaf College, and has performed and taught master classes in every U.S. state, Canada, South America and throughout Europe and Asia. For more information about Charles Lazarus go to www.charleslazarus.com.
