Item Description

Own Jean-Michel Cousteau's personal DOXA watch!

Jean-Michel Cousteau wore this watch in 2011 and while diving in Fiji this past October.  It has been engraved by DOXA for authenticity on the back with the following, "Official watch worn by Jean-Michel Cousteau: 25 hours logged under water in Fiji, 2011".

You can see Jean-Michel wearing this watch on one of the dives in Fiji in the image selection on this auction page. This is a one-of-a-kind piece and is a must have for any Cousteau fan!

“I remember my first DOXA SUB watch with fondness. I depended on that watch during the many expeditions I was on with my father, Jacques-Yves Cousteau,” says Jean-Michel Cousteau, President and Founder of Ocean Futures Society. “I am proud to have my expedition team wear the DOXA SUB again!”

With a common passion for preservation of our blue planet, Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society has chosen the DOXA SUB as the Expedition Team’s official time keeper.

The DOXA SUB was designed with the input of Jean-Michel’s father and co-inventor of SCUBA Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau and was introduced in 1967. It is the first dive watch to incorporate a non-decompression dive time table integrated into the watch bezel. The DOXA SUB, well known for its orange dial, has become standard equipment of professional divers all over the world since its release in 1967.

“DOXA has a history of endorsing ocean research and preservation and are looking forward to working together with Ocean Futures Society as a continuation of our commitment and dedication to what we consider to be the most important environmental concern of our time,” states Rick Marei, General Manager DOXA watches USA. “We wholeheartedly support the Ocean Futures Society’s mission to educate on a global level about the importance of the ocean, its integral nature to the survival of our planet, and ways that it can be preserved, understood and maintained.”

About the DOXA SUB 1200T Professional:

  • The 1200T combines the look and feel of the original SUB 300T Conquistador, with the high quality and reliability of a modern DOXA SUB.
  • At just over 42 mm in diameter, the DOXA SUB 1200T Professional is the ideal option for those looking for a more traditional, smaller sized DOXA SUB.
  • The SUB 1200T Professional is constructed from a single block of stainless steel, with a depth rating of 1200 meters (3937 feet), and is equipped with an integrated (automatic) helium release valve (HRV).
  • The 1200T boasts a solid 120-tooth, unidirectional, stainless steel bezel. In addition, the bracelet is thicker and more substantial than previous versions with solid piece end links. A 100% Swiss-made, self-winding movement powers the SUB 1200T, and just like the original, DOXA’s patented no-decompression dive table bezel (US Patent N. 3505808) is standard.

Item Special Note

This item has been gently worn and dove by Jean-Michel Cousteau and does have some scratches on the back clasp and on the bracelet. As this item is straight off Jean-Michel's wrist, there are extra links for the solid stainless steel bracelet included just in case you prefer a looser fit.  It is in perfect working condition and is in the original DOXA world famous "SCUBA bottle" presentation case made of heavy anodized aluminum. Also included for the winning bidder is the orange DOXA rubber wristband, a high quality Bergeon screwdriver to aid in removing/adding links on the bracelet and DOXA's 2 year limited warranty.
