Item Description
Experience Istanbul, one of the great cities of the world, with a week in a newly-renovated one-bedroom apartment in a friendly 100-year-old building. The apartment has has a shared roof terrace, high-speed Internet, a fully-equipped kitchen, towels and linens, and a washing machine.
You will be staying in Beyoglu area, a few blocks from Istiklal Caddesi, the heart of Istanbul's lively nightlife, diverse restaurants, chic hotels, eclectic shops and a the city's major transportation hub. Our historic neighborhood of Cukurcuma is full of cafes and tea houses, and is famous for antique shops, art galleries, international expats and bohemian Turks. It's walking distance to the Istanbul Modern Art Museum on the Bosphorus, and a short tram ride to major sites like Haghia Sofia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar.
You will be met by the English-speaking manager who lives nearby and get lots of information on some of our favorite Istanbul places.The apartment can sleep two in the bedroom on a queen size bed, and two in the private living room on a comfortable pull-out couch. This item is for six nights, checking in at 4pm and out at 11am.
Owner, Therese Shechter creates humor-spiked, personal narrative chronicling 21st Century feminism through such documentaries as "How to Lose Your Virginity", "#slutwalknyc," "I Was A Teenage Feminist" and "How I Learned to Speak Turkish". She curates The V-Card Diaries, a crowd-sourced interactive story-sharing project with over 250 stories of sexual debuts and deferrals, and writes about virginity, female sexuality and feminism for the film's companion blog. Her work has screened on large and small screens all over the world, and has been covered by The Huffington Post, Forbes, The Guardian, Bitch magazine and The Jakarta Globe, among others. She doesn't spend nearly enough time at her place in Istanbul.
