Item Description

Art Board by Fine Artist Paul Bond

6'3" Channel Island Thruster board.

Award-winning artist Paul David Bond Pesqueira was born in 1964 in Guadalajara,Mexico, and currently lives and works in Southern California.

His deeply symbolic paintings draw from the Latin American genre of Magic Realism, where magical elements are blended into a realistic atmosphere in order to access a deeper understanding of reality. Bond’s art illuminates a dreamlike world where anything and everything is possible. His gift is the ability to juxtapose and rearrange common elements in order to translate universal spiritual or metaphysical ideas. Sometimes they are simply uplifting illusions expressing the whimsical, surreal and fantastic side of life. Always, they are soothing visual meditations that delight the imagination and stir the soul.

Bond’s work has won numerous awards and been featured in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and cultural centers around the country, including the Gateway Museum in Farmington, New Mexico; William DeBilzan Gallery in Santa Fe, NM; Magidson Gallery in Aspen, CO; Lu Martin Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA; Haro Gallery in Culver City, CA; Evocative Arts Gallery in Palm Springs, CA; CA; The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel, CA; and The San Diego Art Institute. His work is in private and corporate collections, including Hotel Hershey inHershey,Pennsylvania.

On Painting … Bond draws the following analogy of his paintings; “Life and the Universe can be likened to a car - it works, and we all use one - yet most of us don’t fully know how it really functions. Unless we spend our lives in the study of physics and sciences, at best, we can reach a place where we are in awe, gratitude and reverence with the mysteries which surround and permeate our lives. Though my art, I like to give viewers a glimpse under the hood of their lives. Rearranging familiar objects gives me the visual symbols which I use as a language to reflect an emotion or thought that I’m entertaining at the moment. Very often a painting is born from something randomly seen from a car window or a line in a novel or song. If it stirs my curiosity, it finds its way into my work.”
