Item Description
Growing up on the North Shore with shaggy blonde hair and freckles, Mark Healey has always had to prove himself and has always stood out. He got accustomed to tackling the biggest waves, jumping off the highest cliffs, and spearing the largest fish.
He developed an unmatched comfort level on some of the world’s heaviest waves; Pipe, Sunset and Waimea. Mark learned the intricacies of these waves, both above and below the surface. He later used this expertise and confidence to surf Jaws, Todos, Teahupoo, Puerto, Tasmania, and Cortes Bank.
He learned to be a waterman. Mark’s daily free dive and spear fishing sessions grew his lung capacity. He can hold his breath for four minutes which he feels he has needed many times. Recently, he won The Blue Water Spear Fishing World Cup in La Paz, Mexico.
Being a wild man gets you noticed, and that’s certainly the case for Mark. In addition to regular props from the surf media; Surfer, Surfing and Transworld, mainstream adrenaline pubs like Outside and Men’s Journal have made Healey’s swell- chasing lifestyle the envy of Joe Average everywhere.
Mark will be signing the board before the auction closes on December 31.
