Item Description

Alma Handmade Chocolates uses fresh ingredients to make chocolate you can believe in. As with all Alma confections, this special five-piece auction set has been made with real vanilla, fresh herbs, and organic butter and cream, and no preservatives or artificial flavors. No two batches are exactly alike. They are as individual and unique as the lucky and successful bidder who will receive this item.

Alma can’t guarantee that their solid-chocolate depiction of Shakyamuni Buddha will elevate you to Nirvana but they do know that dark chocolate contributes to one of the Four Noble Truths, peace of mind. Size: 3" x 2".

Quan Yin is revered as the Goddess of Mercy. Alma pays tribute to this embodiment of compassion and loving kindness with solid chocolate brightly lit in 23k gold. Size: 3" x 2".

Hail Hotei, the Laughing Buddha, god of contentment and happiness. Rubbing his great belly is said to bring forth prosperity and good luck. He’s also the patron saint of restaurateurs, bartenders and—it stands to reason—chocolatiers. Size: 2" x 2".

No one can get enough of the salty-sweet-crunchy deliciousness of peanut butter cups. This box includes Salted and Thai Peanut Butter Cups.

Salt, butter and sugar with candied ginger as a spicy contrast and crunchy nuts for texture are the featured ingredients in Alma's Ginger-Almond Toffee. Topped with very good, very dark chocolate, it's Salty-Spicy-Sweet & highly addictive.

And finally, a package of Alma's smoke-toned organic Lapsang Souchong tea to complete the experience.

In 2004, Alma owner Sarah Hart wondered why so many chocolate easter bunnies were so awful. The chocolate was waxy, the designs tacky. Theobroma, Latin for chocolate, held so much promise. It was, after all, the food of the gods. This simple idea launched Alma Chocolate. Sarah marketed these first products — molded chocolate “Icons,” sculptures of religious and cultural figures that were hand-gilded with 23-karat gold leaf — at friends’ retail stores and street fairs, where they were an immediate success.

When Sarah’s kitchen became too small to keep up with orders, she began selling at the Farmer’s Market, where she still keeps a booth on Saturdays. She also has a shop on 28th Avenue in Portland, Oregon.
