Item Description
"Fearless peacefulness" was the quality that attracted Liza Matthews, Shambhala Sun art director, to this image. She'd seen and had it in mind to use as a magazine cover for many years. When the issue entitled "Smile at Fear" came along she finally had the perfect opportunity to use it.
This head of a colossal Buddha is most likely from 14th-century Cambodia, perhaps in the Bayon style. Sandstone. 20 inches high. This ¾-view photograph is by Michel Urtado, a French photographer with expertise in capturing rare museum pieces and panoramas. See www.urtado.com
The Shambhala Sun Foundation is including this print in the auction to celebrate its recent unveiling in the online gallery
