Item Description
Bring up to eight of your fellow science buffs and geology nuts for a rare opportunity to hike into the best-known and best-preserved meteorite crater on Earth. Meteor Crater is the dramatic result of a collision between a piece of asteroid traveling at 26,000 miles per hour and planet Earth approximately 50,000 years ago. The crater itself is no longer open to the public, but you and your group will participate in a guided hike into its center, where Apollo astronauts trained and where research is still conducted on Earth geology and asteroid impacts. Visit includes admission to the interactive discovery center, Astronaut Memorial Park, and the wide screen movie theater. Located just 35 miles east of Flagstaff, just off I-40. Tour must be completed by March 15, 2011. Participants must be physically fit and properly equipped for desert hiking in rocky terrain.
Item Special Note
Must be done by March 15, 2011. Date will be agreed by participants and guide. Participants must be physically fit.
