Endless stories are told about Rocco Angelo. A natural-born educator, he exudes optimism 24/7 and the kind of positive attitude so desperately sought in our newly minted hospitality graduates. A master of the art of casual conversation, Rocco is the quintessential raconteur. Hear him talk about his early career in the Big Apple, his years with Laventhol, with Aramark and Loews Hotels in Puerto Rico, the hiring of Tony Marshall, the Japanese Caper and Victory at the battle of Hialeah. His awards are many, a long list that bespeaks of a long and distinguished career.
Unrelenting in the search for excellence, Rocco's door is always open to students and alumni. He coaches, cajoles, encourages and exemplifies the best of the interested mentor. Author, Rocco's book "Hospitality Today. An introduction," has found its way into many University classrooms. He occasionally lectures on travel and tourism, filling the lecture hall.
Travel? In what has become his signature activity, Rocco does a lot of travel. Rocco Angelo is always planning the next trip, be it by plane, by ship, or over land, off somewhere, meeting with alumni, attending a conference, bringing himself up-to-date on industry trends. His favorite spots include LA, Vegas, and his beloved Big Apple. When it comes time to purchase a ticket, Rocco attacks rack rates with the zeal of a bargain-basement hunter, a passionate seeker of the lowest price.
