Item Description

If you love unique jewelry and crafts, look no further!  We are offering an eclectic collection of Fair Trade earrings, bracelets, and baskets that are hand-crafted in Africa by skilled artisans.

This Fair Trade Gift Basket includes:

  • Hand Painted Glass Bead Bracelet - Hand painted glass beads from Ghana form this stylish bracelet. It has an 8” circumference and stretches to 10”.
  • 2 pairs of Tin Can Recycled Earrings (1 square pair and 1 triangular pair) - Folded into discarded pieces of tin, matching rectangles cut from drink cans make surprisingly colorful and clever earrings! They are handmade in South Africa by creative artisans who are doing their part to conserve and recycle, while creating unique jewelry for the world to enjoy.
  • Maasai Bangle Bracelet – This bangle is made from a rubber ring wrapped in beads. It is handmade in Kenya and has an approximate circumference of 7 ½” with just a minimal amount of stretch to fit over your wrist.
  • Zulu Hand-Woven Ilala Palm Basket (4” diameter by 1 ½” tall) - This little basket was lovingly hand-woven in South Africa by a small Zulu girl who, by following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, will be fully conversant in the age-old art of basket-weaving before she is a teenager.
  • Zulu Telephone Wire Basket (8 ½” diameter by 3 ½” tall) - This bowl is handmade in South Africa from recycled telephone wire. Plastic covered copper telephone wire comes in many colors, providing artisans with an infinite palette to weave into brilliant bowls.  It is the perfect combination of traditional weaving techniques and non-traditional material. The detail is exquisite and expresses the limitless creativity of the artisan.

*Unique jewelry and crafts such as those featured here are available at the President William Jefferson Clinton Birthplace Home National Historic Site, our newest partner in Hope, Arkansas.  These crafts are representative of President Clinton’s strong support of fair trade and global awareness.
