Enjoy Burgundies? Check out this selection of 12 rare white and reds:

Whites:

Domaine J-F Mugnier Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Marechale Monopole 2010: Mugniers rare Marechale blanc hails from the same vineyard as the red described below. Pretty aromas of citrus rind, dried floral, and minerality lead to complex flavors with plenty of verve and a bone-dry finish.

Domaine Leflaive Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clavoillon 2010: From an iconic house and a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture, Leflaives Clavoillon has layered scents of floral, pear, white peach and lemon rind, with rich, detailed, vibrant flavors, a seductive texture, and immaculate balance.

Reds:

Domaine Hubert Lignier Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvres 2009: Lignier has a reputation for wines of concentration, depth, and structure. The 09 Les Seuvres shows lovely notes of cherry and red flower, with hints of mushroom and earth that carry into the bright, pretty flavors.

Domaine Marc Roy Gevrey-Chambertin Cuve Alexandrine 2009: Alexandrine is the 4th generation to run the tiny Roy property; this is her top wine. The nose speaks of lovely red and blue fruit, a hint of mint and orange peel. Excellent concentration, with an explosive, driving finish.

Domaine Lignier-Michelot Morey-Saint-Denis En la rue de Vergy 2008: Virgile Lignier is being recognized as a rising star. His En la Rue de Vergy smells of olive and earth, mushrooms and currants and spices. Flavors are elegant, with a fine weight and balance.

Domaine Lignier-Michelot Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru 2008: Virgile Lignier produces only 25-cases of this wine, which offers a complex bouquet of licorice, black cherry, mineral, herbs, and spice. Its serious stuff, yet also warm, ripe, and refined.

Maison Mo-Camuzet Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras 2009: From one of Burgundys most celebrated domaines, Mo-Camuzets 09 Les Cras presents a fresh, elegant bouquet of currant, blueberry, stone, and violets with vibrant flavors, a beguiling texture, and delicious finish.

Olivier Bernstein Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Lavrottes 2010: Bernsteins first vintage was 2007 and already he is considered a rising superstar. His 2010 Les Lavrottes offers gorgeous red berry and stone aromas with refined flavors and tannins. A study in finesse and harmony.

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Vosne-Romane 1er Cru Les Orveaux 2010: Mongeard calls his 2010s wines of distinction and transparency. From the tiny Les Orveaux vineyard, this displays sexy aromas of strawberry, cherry, savory herbs, and a dash of spice. Bright and beautifully balanced.

Domaine Michel Gros Vosne-Romane 1er Cru Clos des Ras Monopole 2010: The Clos des Ras vineyard has been in the Gros family since 1860. The 2010s alluring aromas conjure spice and dark berries, currants, damp earth, and orange peel. Though young, flavors are seductive and velvety. There is a note of wood that should integrate beautifully with time on the cork.

Domaine J-F Mugnier Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Marechale Monopole 2010: Wonderfully pure, with an expressive nose of earthy red pinot fruit that also exhibits notes of underbrush and mineral components. Lovely, with a refined, mouth-coating finish.

Domaine Joseph Voillot Volnay 1er Cru Les Fremiets 2009: This venerable fifth-generation domaine has holdings in the top vineyards of both Volnay and Pommard. A subtle touch of wood sets off an attractive mix of violets, wet stone, and ripe red cherry aromas. The rich, full, and seductively textured flavors possess excellent delineation and fine length.
