Item Description
Inspiration: “I recently lost my life-long best friend to
cancer and have had other friends who have survived
and lost their battles with various forms of cancer. I
decided to dedicate the chair to the surviving families,
thinking the chair might give them a place to sit and
remember that even in the pain of loss there is hope
that everything will be okay. That, as Bob Marley sang
in his song “Little Birds,” “Every little thing is gonna be
alright…”
Item Special Note
About the artist: Robin Case is a painter and “assemblage
artist,” most recently from New Orleans, LA. She
relocated to Kansas City in the fall of 2005 as a
Hurricane Katrina survivor. She has shown her
paintings at galleries in Kansas City and recently
completed a commission to paint the mural in the
new Kansas City, Kansas Library on Strong Ave. She
is currently showing an exhibit at the Main branch
in Kansas City, Kansas (on Minnesota Street). She
works as a residential decorative painter and muralist,
and is a teaching artist.
