Our Story

Fluff It Up was started somewhat accidentally. Kate and Nick had been dating for for about 9 months when Kate bought Nick a small cotton candy machine for his birthday. Nick had a lifelong fascination with cotton candy.

They started making experimental batches of flavored candy, Almond Latte and Spiced Orange being among the first successes. As they went along more and more people were impressed by their product and they decided to invest in a large machine and get serious. Their first event was at a friend's art gallery during the Zombie Walk of 2012.

About Us

Nick Breckenfeld is a native Tucsonan with deep roots in the community.  His parents are local growers who sell produce at local farmer's markets and Nick carries on the traditions they instilled in him from a young age of focusing on where your food comes from and the importance of knowing what goes into it. He has always loved eating and experiencing new flavors. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor's in Geology and then a Master's in Education.

Kate Keelen grew up in central New Jersey and was taught the importance of respecting and caring for her environment by her parents. She moved to New Orleans in 2004 to study at Tulane University. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's in Geology and Studio Art. Before moving to Tucson with her cat, Greezy, in 2012 she worked as an artist assistant and jeweler.
