2012 Grande Vineyard Zin

This family tradition is a classic example of what gave birth to the international stature that todays Napa Valley now enjoys. At the turn of the 20th Century, immigrants settled in Californias rural valleys to farm fruits and vegetables, livestock, poultry, raise their own food, and grow wine grapes, mostly Zinfandel, (and Petite Sirah) to sell to winemakers and to make their own wine. Winemaker's Tasting Notes: Brambly blackberrry, boysenberry jam, licorice, bing cherry, clove, graphite, and a twist of pepper.

Robert Biale 2012 Bedrock Vineyard Zinfandel (Sonoma Valley)

A brand new vineyard designation for the winery, Bedrock dates to the 1800s and is being made famous by proprietor Joel Peterson of Ravenswood and his son, Morgan Twain Peterson. This wine does the site justice, a smooth concoction of cherry pit and allspice, elegant and yet plenty generous in fruit and structure, measured by natural acidity. (12/31/2014) 92 WE

2012 Robert Biale Vineyards Zinfandel, Pagani Ranch, Sonoma Valley

Winemaker’s Tasting Notes: Plump, juicy, and firm, this is one irresistible bird – a Zinfandel brimming with fruit, spices, and an Oak Knoll District perfume of concentrated blackberry compote, bright raspberries, clove, five spice, black tea, toasted brioche, and notes of caramel and vanilla. Voluptuous, gentle, and yummy as it is, this freshly-bottled wonder has the stuffing for the long haul and is just getting started.
