2880 Wines, Calistoga
Private Tour, Tasting & Lunch for Six
Value: $600
In 2002, former teacher, former wine merchant and former wine importer/distributor, John Kane-Hartnett, planted 300 vines in the backyard of his Napa Valley home. Today, the juice from those vines is the heart of Twenty-Eight Eighty Napa Valley Red Wine.
In 2012, John added one of his favorite white varietals, Sauvignon Blanc, to the Twenty-Eight Eighty lineup. Another meaningful addition to the Twenty-Eight Eighty Family is 2880 Napa Valley Rosé.
The Twenty-Eight Eighty, Napa Valley Red Blend 2013 is made from three signature Rhone varietals – Grenache, Syrah, and Petite Sirah. The 2012 vintage won a Silver Medal at Forks & Corks, 2015. The wine was described as “Lush, ripe, and aromatically beguiling” by Lettie Teague, Wine Columnist for The Wall Street Journal.
Their Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc, 2014, offers a nose full of intoxicating aromas of ripe grapefruit, passion fruit and green melon.
The Twenty-Eight Eighty Napa Valley Rose, 2015, has aromas of ripe strawberries and muddled raspberries.
You’ll spend an afternoon at 2880, this small but mighty 600-case, family-run winery. Owners Betsy and John Kane-Hartnett, will show you around their “backyard” vineyard and taste you on all of their current releases. After a delicious lunch under the grape arbor, you’ll head home with a mixed case of 2880 wines.
Subject to availability. Blackout dates may apply. Valid until October 1, 2017.
