About the show:

The beloved hit film Groundhog Day is now a stage musical, coming to Broadway following a smash-hit World Premiere production on London’s West End. Director Matthew Warchus, composer and lyricist Tim Minchin, choreographer Peter Darling and designer Rob Howell, four of the creators of the international sensation Matilda The Musical, have joined forces with writer Danny Rubin to collaborate on this new musical based on his 1993 hit film.

SYNOPSIS: Phil Connors is a cynical Pittsburgh TV weatherman who is sent to cover the annual Groundhog Day event in the isolated small town of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, when he finds himself caught in a time loop, forced to repeat the same day again and again…and again. As each day plays out exactly the same as before Phil becomes increasingly despondent, but is there a lesson to be learnt through his experiences, will he ever unlock the secret and break the cycle?

About Andy Karl:

Andy Karl was most recently seen as Sargent Mike Dodds on the NBC series “Law & Order: SVU”. He returns to Broadway this spring in the musical Groundhog Day after creating the role of “Phil Connors” this past summer at The Old Vic in London. For his performance, he received Evening Standard Award and WhatsOnStage Award nominations.  He won the Outer Critics Circle Award and was nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, and Drama League Awards for his starring role opposite Kristen Chenoweth in the Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century. For his critically acclaimed performance as “Rocky Balboa” in the Broadway musical Rocky, Karl was nominated for Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Awards.

Previous Broadway credits include the revival of The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Drama Desk Nomination), Jersey Boys, Wicked, 9 to 5, Legally Blonde, The Wedding Singer, Saturday Night Fever. Off-Broadway: Annie Get Your Gun (City Center), Altar Boyz (OCC Award) and Slut. Tickets are valid for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday evening performances between March 17 and April 30, 2017 (except for opening night on April 17) and are subject to availability.
