Item Description

Enjoy one of New York City's most beloved summertime traditions with this prize of two pairs of tickets to The Public Theater's 2017 Shakespeare in the Park season - without having to wait in line for hours!

A favorite event for all theatergoers, Shakespeare in the Park productions are performed at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park.  Every summer, hundreds of people start lining up for tickets in the wee hours of the morning each day, but with this prize you will be one of the lucky few to skip the lines and take in these acclaimed performances at your own leisure!

About the shows:

This summer's productions are Julius Caesar (May 23 - June 18, 2017) followed by A Midsummer's Night Dream (July 11 - August 13, 2017); casting for both is to be announced.

JULIUS CAESAR, Shakespeare’s play of politics and power, was last seen in the Park 17 years ago and will be returning in a new production directed by The Public Theater's Artistic Director Oskar Eustis.  Traditionally considered a history play, Julius Caesar tackles timeless themes of politics and power that continue to resonate with audiences around the world.

Rome’s leader, Julius Caesar, is a force unlike any the city has seen. Magnetic, populist, irreverent, he seems bent on absolute power. A small band of patriots, devoted to the country’s democratic traditions, must decide how to oppose him. Shakespeare’s political masterpiece has never felt more contemporary.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM transports the audience into an enchanted forest, where the scene is set for this beloved Shakespeare comedy.  Director Lear deBessonet, Founder of The Public Theater’s groundbreaking Public Works program and Resident Director, brings her electric theatrical vision to the classic romance about the supernatural nature of love.

When the merry sprite Puck meddles with a magical love potion, young lovers lost in the woods mysteriously find themselves infatuated with the wrong person in this hilarious, fairytale fantasia that proves the course of true love never did run smooth.
