About the show:

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic Sunday in the Park with George is back on Broadway in its second revival, a transfer of the critically-acclaimed New York City Center concert production earlier this season. Jake Gyllenhaal (Constellations) and Annaleigh Ashford (Kinky Boots, You Can't Take It With You), who both earned unanimous raves for their performances, return to their roles. The production re-opens the historic and newly-remodeled Hudson Theatre, the first Broadway production to play the space in almost 50 years.

SYNOPSIS: This Pulitzer Prize-winning musical follows painter Georges Seurat in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Consumed by his need to “finish the hat,” Seurat alienates the French bourgeoisie, spurns his fellow artists, and neglects his lover Dot, not realizing that his actions will reverberate over the next 100 years.

About Annaleigh Ashford:

Annaleigh Ashford is an award-winning actress and singer who had her Broadway debut as ditzy sorority sister Margot in Legally Blonde. She went on to play Glinda in Wicked on Broadway and took over the role of Jeanie in Hair before snapping up the role of Maureen in the first New York revival of Jonathan Larson's landmark rock musical Rent.

Ashford also originated the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots, a performance for which she received a 2013 Tony nomination. Ashford won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play for her performance as Essie Carmichael in the revival of You Can't Take It with You.

Onscreen, Ashford is also known for her portrayal of the character Betty Dimello on the Showtime American period drama television series Masters of Sex.  She also released her debut solo album in 2015, a live album entitled Lost in the Stars: Live at 54 Below.
