About the show:

Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Sunset Boulevard, returns to Broadway!  Based on the classic Academy Award-winning Billy Wilder film, this new production comes to New York direct from a bravura sold-out engagement earlier this year at the English National Opera.  In addition to a knockout cast, this production also features a 40-piece orchestra, the largest on Broadway.

SYNOPSIS: In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess, Norma Desmond (Glenn Close), lives in a fantasy world. Impoverished screen writer, Joe Gillis (Michael Xavier), on the run from debt collectors, stumbles into her reclusive world. Persuaded to work on Norma’s ‘masterpiece’, a film script that she believes will put her back in front of the cameras, he is seduced by her and her luxurious life-style. Joe becomes entrapped in a claustrophobic world until his love for another woman leads him to try and break free with dramatic consequences.

About Michael Xavier:

Michael Xavier is a two-time Olivier Award nominated actor, whose West End & UK credits include starring roles in Sunset Boulevard (Winner: Best Actor BWW UK Award), Love Story (Olivier award nomination), Into The Woods (Olivier award nomination), Shakespeare’s The Wars of the Roses, Show Boat, Phantom of the Opera, Assassins, The Pajama Game, Spamalot!, My Fair Lady, The Sound of Music, Sweet Charity, Hello Dolly!, Oklahoma!, Mamma Mia!, Miss Saigon and The Mikado. Xavier's television and film roles include Never Let Go and Gnomeland.  He is also the creator and director of Musical Theatre weekly Sunday academy "Musical Theatre Masterclass", helping to train and mentor young Musical Theatre stars of the future.
