About the show:

Three-time Tony Award-winner Glenn Close returns to Broadway in her most iconic role, Norma Desmond, in a new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Sunset Boulevard, based on the Academy Award-winning Billy Wilder film.  This revival comes direct from a bravura sold-out UK engagement earlier this year, which marked Ms. Close's West End debut. This production also invovles a 40-piece orchestra, the largest on Broadway.

SYNOPSIS: In her mansion on Sunset Boulevard, faded, silent-screen goddess Norma Desmond, lives in a fantasy world that impoverished screen writer Joe Gillis stumbles into while on the run from debt collectors. Persuaded to work on Norma’s ‘masterpiece’, a film script that she believes will put her back in front of the cameras, he is seduced by her and her luxurious life-style. Joe becomes entrapped in a claustrophobic world until his love for another woman leads him to try and break free with dramatic consequences.

About Glenn Close:

Throughout her four-decade-long career, Glenn Close has and continues to earn critical acclaim for her work as an actor.  She has won three Emmy Awards, three Tony Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, an Obie Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and six Academy Award nominations, among many more distinguished honors.

While her early career focused on live theater performance, Close made her big break in film with her award-winning role in The World According to Garp. Close followed this soon after with two more critically acclaimed performances, in The Big Chill and The Natural.  Close continued starring in iconic roles in such films as Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liaisons.  She brought her ability to portray complex, vulnerable yet dangerous character to television, in her starring role on the hit series Damages.
