Item Description

The Niagara County Historical Society offers a family pass to each of the History Center and the Erie Canal Discovery Center. The Erie Canal Discovery Center, located on Church Street in Lockport, is a new state-of-the-art center that celebrates the role Lockport played in the history of the Erie Canal. It features the floor-to-ceiling Raphael Beck mural "The Opening of the Erie Canal, October 26, 1855." Hands-on experiences include navigating a model ship through an actual series of locks. The life and times of "canawlers"—people who lived and worked on the Erie Canal—are also exhibited. Meanwhile, the Niagara History Center, on Niagara Street in Lockport, presents a glimpse of area life in Niagara County over the last 175 years. The Outwater Memorial Building, the Historical Society headquarters, is an 1863 brick home featuring a Victorian parlor, the historic Old Toy Room, the Civil War room, and a changing exhibit room. The site also includes the Washington Hunt Law Office, the Pioneer and Transportation Building, the Barn, and the Kandt House. Visit www.niagarahistory.org to learn more about the Niagara County Historical Society and about both centers. Both family passes are valid through December 31, 2017.

Expiration Date:     12/31/17
