This softcover book is by Arch Merrill, a well-known Upstate NY history author. This book is the 11th in a series by Mr. Merrill. The author provides his readers with tales about unusual people, events - and even buildings - which have cast strange shadows on the wall of NY time. You will meet characters such as Niagara County's seven Sutherland Sisters, Rochester's rattlesnake Pete, a family of daredevils, some Mormon exiles, a Congressman taken prisoner at the battle Bull Run,the Upstate ancestors of Winston Churchill, and much more. As are all of Merrill's works, this book is written from the Upstate NY regional angle. The book is in very good condition. It has 152 pages. It was first published by the author in 1952 and reprinted in 1951 by Empire State Books in 1987, with a run of 2000 books. This copy is by Empire State Books-Heart of the Lakes Publishing, Interlaken, NY.
