Item Description
This lovely poster features a painting by E. Joseph Fontaine. The original painting was in the collection of the Gardner Museum, and is an oil on canvas. It features a formal garden scene with flowers. The poster measures 19" x 25." It is in very good condition. It was printed in the USA in 1993 by the New York Graphic Society. Mr. Gardner is a contemporary American painter. He was active/lived in Massachusetts and is known for town-landscapes and floral outdoor work. His name is synonymous with local landmarks like Newbury Street, Boston Common, the Public Garden, the famous Make Way For Ducklings sculpture, and his most noted subjects, Boston’s beloved Swan Boats. He preferred painting these scenes, always in oil, because, as he told The Providence Journal shortly before his death, “I have to paint the kinds of pictures I enjoy looking at myself.”
