Item Description

Cheese. Wine. Mead. Thanks to Heidrun Meadery, we can add mead to the long list of delicious, earth-conscious things that come out of West Marin and put Point Reyes on the culinary map.

Heidrun Meadery on the Point Reyes Mesa produces naturally sparkling varietal meads using the traditional French Méthode Champenoise. Enjoy a private tour and tasting with five friends, and savor the light, dry, delicate and refreshing aromas and flavors found only in the essence of honey.

Heidrun Meadery's trademark Champagne-style of mead is light, dry, delicate and refreshing, with subtle exotic aromas and flavors found only in the essence of honey. They pride themselves on producing their mead in the most sustainable manner and supporting beekeepers around the country. Their goal is to be involved in the meadmaking process from the flower that provides nectar for the honey bee to the flute from which we drink.

This package includes a lovely and sweet gift basket from Bee Spirits, created by Cindy Davis, dancer, artist, restorative yoga teacher, a lover of bees and all beings.  She lives and creates in her West Marin hive home with the bees, the trees, and the seas, along with her husband "Honey" & their fur-covered son, Sam Shepherd.

Also included is a copy of the Urban Bee Lab's "California Bees & Blooms: A Guide for Gardeners and Naturalists," by Gordon W. Frankie, Robbin W. Thorp, Rollin E. Coville, and Barbara Ertter.

The University of California at Berkeley's Urban Bee Lab has been working since 1987 on documenting bee diversity and bee frequencies on wild California plants in several northern California sites. This research led to a series of new bee sampling methods that have found about 90 species of bees, most of which are native to California. Once sampling is completed in other urban residential areas of the SFBA, they expect this number to increase well beyond 100.

Come see what all the buzz is all about (and taste the magic for yourself!), bid today!
