Item Description
The Magnolia Wine Company in Watertown kindly donated these three acclaimed wines to our auction:
2013 Chianti Classico from Castellare Di Castellina
Well regarded classic Chianti from Tuscany.
2013 Fruili Colli Orientali (Friulano) from Torre Rosazza
The Fruiulano grape is a variety most famous for its role in the white wines of Friuli, northeastern Italy. These wines, usually varietal, are lively and fruit-driven with notes of citrus and almond, and often a touch of minerality. Reviewers comment that it goes well with seafood and prosciutto.
2015 Etna Rosso from Tenuta delle Terre Nere
Etna Rosso are Sicilian wines made largely from the nerello mascalese grape, often abetted by a second grape, nerello cappuccio. Critic Eric Asimov opined in the New York Times that "Etna can produce fresh, energetic reds that are pure, elegant, subtle and vivacious." They are versatile accompaniments for food.
