Item Description
Kenneth Hawkey was born in upstate New York and settled permanently in Truro in 1991 when his first one man show was presented in Provincetown. Since then there have been many artistic successes, developments, awards, exhibits, teachings and explorations. He and his partner own and operate two art galleries that have featured and presented not only all of his new work, but have nurtured new and emerging artists as well. Hawkey has also participated in many events over this past year in Falmouth, Chatham, Cotuit, Provincetown and Yarmouth, presenting his artistic style in representational paintings enlivened with crisp detail and imbued with Cape Cod’s unique light.
The painting presented for this year’s auction, “Waiting for Stillness,” was painted with the anticipation of the day when spring suddenly materializes.
