Item Description

Visit this secluded country home in Umbria where the donor has been a resident for 32 years.
Rustic comfort, knockout views, a splendid award-winning designer Mediterranean garden and a wonderful pool.
The donor is an artist, so the house and garden are full of his paintings and sculptures. The buyer(s) will enjoy a weekend (2 night) escape stay (or longer- see below) in a comfortable guest room (double beds, adjoining bath).  Breakfast and dinner included. The fridge would be full of local goodies and wines, use of house/pool/ wifi. The house is gay- friendly, dog-friendly, smoker-friendly, etc. You get the picture...

A fellow Democrat friend of the donor, who is an expert in art history, will add to your enjoyment by taking the buyer(s) on a half-day walking tour of nearby Spoleto, narrated in either Italian or English.

Depending on your interests, the donor is willing to set up a cooking session, an oil tasting, a wine itinerary, or just leave you alone to chill by the pool with a good book and a glass of wine.

Putting in over 500 spring-flowering bulbs this year so, that’ll be colourful.

About Spoleto: A wonderful mix of remnants from its Roman and medieval pasts, Spoleto’s history actually goes back further to Bronze Age Umbria. Today, it’s best known for its annual summer Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of Two Worlds or Spoleto Festival)held late June/early July, honoring music, opera, theater and dance. Among the city’s many excellent historic sites are its first-century Roman amphitheatre, the 12th-century Duomo, 13th-century Ponte delle Torri aqueduct and the 14th-century hilltop fortress, Rocca Albornoziana. Note: the last photo above is a stock photo of the town.

Item Special Note

This listing is for a weekend get-a-way, but depending on the time of year and donor's schedule, a longer, self-catered stay of up to 3 additional days may be possible with an additional donation of $75/night. Ask for details.

Although the timeframe is open, late spring/summer is a lovely time. The pool opens usually in mid-April. We're planting another 2000 (!) bulbs this fall so spring color will be terrific.
