- Lunch with Parker at one of the Biltmore’s restaurants

Surrounded by acres of formal and informal gardens designed by America's foremost landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted, the magnificent Biltmore estate is world renowned. Completed in 1895, George Vanderbilt's 250-room chateau is as impressive today as it was more than a century ago. With its breathtaking views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Biltmore House is truly an architectural and historical wonder. From the formal beauty of the Italian Garden to the breathtaking presence of ancient trees in America's first managed forests, the Biltmore estate's lush landscape is a living tribute to Olmsted's legacy.
Director of Horticulture at the Biltmore since 2000, Parker Andes oversees the care and preservation of the estate’s Olmsted designed gardens and grounds. Parker is a graduate of West Virginia University and began his career working at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and then moved on to gain experience at Longwood Gardens and Callaway Gardens. During the tour, Parker will discuss his work with Olmsted’s original designs and review projects that are currently underway to preserve the Biltmore’s notable and historic landscape.
