About the Artist: Cecil Aldin (1870-1935), one of the most popular British sporting artists, was tremendously skilled at depicting the energy and vitality of animals. His father was an amateur artist, and Cecil became a highly successful illustrator, painter, and writer. Aldin was known for his lively, humorous and precise depictions of outdoor sporting scenes, and lauded for his remarkable ability to render the individual character of his animal subjects, particularly dogs. His art often featured hunting, one of his lifelong passions, and he created many scenes of foxhunting in the English countryside.
