Item Description
Lovely vintage filigree style ring with synthetic ruby hails from Russia. The ring bears Russian hallmarks--a star with a sickle and hammer and the number "875". We believe the ring is made of 87.5% of pure silver, with a 9 or 10K gold gilding. The size of the stone is also indicated as 8 x 10 mm.
A bit about synthetic rubies: A synthetic gem material is one that is made in a laboratory, but which shares virtually all chemical, optical, and physical characteristics of its natural mineral counterpart. In the late 1800s, ruby became the first gem to be created in a laboratory by Auguste Verneuil. In 1902, he announced the development of his flame-fusion process for synthesizing this beautiful gem. Jewelers are able to use these gems to produce fine jewelry at more affordable price points.
Size: 6
Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
