Hood River County’s Fruit Loop is amazing, with fruit, u-pick, wineries, hard cider and breweries, corn mazes in fall, fresh pies, flowers, lavender farms, jams and jellies. There’s also lots of events surrounding blossom time and harvests. For the sportsperson, there is wonderful fishing opportunities on the Columbia River, especially in the spring and fall salmon seasons with BIG fish.

The Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa has a rich history and was a favored retreat for many movie stars such as Clara Bow, Rudolph Valentino, and Shirley Temple, presidents like Roosevelt and Coolidge and other social and political dignitaries. During the time of steamers and speakeasies, Valentino and the Model T people were dancing the Charleston and listening to jazz throughout our wonderful hotel. Rudolph Valentino was the inspiration for the Hotel’s lounge; his pictures hang on the walls of their romantic Valentino Lounge, that has a BIG fireplace to cozy up to, and Thursday through Saturday nights there is live music from a pianist who plays their grand piano.

The in-house restaurant, Simon’s Cliff House, has stunning views of the Columbia Gorge, as well as excellent food and service. Or, you may choose to pamper yourself at the Hotel’s Spa Remedease. Be sure to visit the on-site 208 foot waterfall at the Hotel, Wah Gwin Gwin Falls!

During your stay, you’ll be treated to a Bike Tour for two, with shuttle to and from the hotel, by MountNbarrel Wine Country Bike Tours. They have several guided tour options on both the west side (Oak Grove) and east side (Pine Grove) of Hood River – all of which include bikes, helmets, and at least one trained local guide.

Several tours are available, including “The Original OG Tour”. On this leisurely bike and shuttle tour, you’ll ride six to seven miles over a period of four and a half hours, make four to five stops, and visit three wineries. Wineries you may visit include: Phelps Creek Vineyards, Marchesi Vineyards, Viento Wines, Hood Crest Winery, Cathedral Ridge Winery.

On this epic ride, you’ll pedal and sip along the west side of the lower Hood River Valley known to the local community as Oak Grove. This guided tour has an abundance of historical charm and natural beauty- with vast orchards, vineyards, historical sites, wildlife and breathtaking views of both Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood. It includes a private vineyard tour, complimentary tastings from three wineries, and light lunch pairings (with gluten free and vegetarian options).
