Item Description
Up for bid here is a remarkable giclee print on Hahnemühle German etching paper (1/25). It measures 19 1/4''x24'' matted (unframed).
Of his recent work Sam says, My current paintings focus on the interiors of several buildings within an abandoned marble quarry complex in Southern Vermont. The town in which it resides has felt the effects of unemployment and poverty since the loss of the marble industry. I lived among these buildings 20 years ago and they have haunted me ever since. There is a palpable energy within these crumbling walls that permeates the air. The buildings breathe with a calm stillness as mother nature slowly reclaims her territory. These spaces are meditations on how beauty and light are eternally intertwined with the dark and decayed.
