Red, White, and Tuna
By Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard

June 14 – July 21, 2018

They’re Back, Y’all! We are proud to present the third in this series of hilarious plays, set in the fictional town of Tuna, the “third-smallest” town in the state of Texas. Keith Wick and Stephen Frankenfield play the entire cast of more than 20 eccentric male and female characters of various ages. This silly comedy is an affectionate and satirical commentary on small-town, Southern life and attitudes. Alongside Tuna’s perennial favorite characters, new Tuna residents burst into the 4th of July Tuna High School Class Reunion, setting the stage for a show full of fireworks and fun.

The Effect
By Lucy Prebble

“I can't tell the difference between who I am and a side effect.” Connie and Tristan can’t hide how they feel around each other: Hearts thumping, sleepless nights, and a slightly ill excitement. They’ve fallen for one another, and fallen hard—unless their chemistry is a side-effect of an antidepressant they’re taking as clinical trial participants. The trial’s supervising doctors must untangle the ethical implications of Connie and Tristan's illicit relationship. A passionate and provocative look at the mysteries of attraction.

Every Brilliant Thing
By Duncan Macmillan

When the 6-year-old protagonist of this story learns his mom is in the hospital because she tried to hurt herself, he leaves a note on her bed to remind her of all the things that make life worth living. “Ice cream” and “Kung Fu” movies, for example. “Laughing so hard you shoot milk out your nose,” is an excellent one, and “me” is perhaps the saddest. This look at mental illness through a child’s eyes is somehow poignant and funny all at once, and it breaks your heart and stitches it back together in exactly the way theatre is supposed to. Starring LTW favorite Steve Wood.

"One of the funniest plays you'll ever see about depression—and possibly one of the funniest plays you'll ever see" - The Guardian

Death by Design
By Rob Urbinati

A mix of Noël Coward wit and Agatha Christie plot. Set in an English country manor in 1932, playwright Edward Bennet and his wife, the actress Sorel Bennett, flee London and head to Cookham after a disastrous opening night. Their quiet weekend dissolves as various guests arrive unexpectedly, each with a long-held secret. When one of the guests is murdered, it’s left to Bridgit, the feisty Irish maid with a macabre interest in homicide, to solve the crime. This play is more than an homage—it's a new classic. But don’t expect this play to unlock the mystery to designing the perfect murder—unless the weapon of choice is laughter.

Stage Kiss
By Sarah Ruhl

Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with an amorous history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the onstage love story follows them offstage. A charming farce about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss—or when actors share a real one.

“Sarah Ruhl delivers a brilliant comedy that aims for big laughs and hits its target. Funny: There’s nothing like it." - The New York Post
