Item Description
This large serving board is beautifully crafted from highly figured live edge ambrosia maple. Swimming at the top of this board are two adult and three young North Atlantic right whales. The whales are carved from two separate species of wood and puzzled together to give them their authentic colors. These whales have been carved from aspen and bog oak--an oak tree that fell into a bog several thousand years ago and absorbed minerals from the water over time, causing the wood to remain intact and take on a jet black color. This tree fell before humans ever had the notion to hunt or harm these whales. The board is finished with food grade oils to protect it from moisture and measures 22” by 17”.
