Expose your child to the joy of music with an in home piano lesson taught by Kiyoko Lane.
Kiyoko was born in Japan. She began to play Classical Piano
when she was 5. She graduated from Berklee College of Music and
received a Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Composition. At Berklee,
Kiyoko studied Vocal Performance with Diane Richardson, Piano
Performance with Jeff Covell, and Jazz Composition with Dick Lowell.
Kiyoko moved to Harlem, New York City, in 2008, where she
energetically continues to sing African American music. She desires to
combine African American and Japanese music, while performing as a
singer and pianist. In 2008, she performed at United Nation Plaza in
New York. In January 2009, she released her first CD “Kiyoko in
Harlem” featuring Alex Layne, Lou Rainnone, Stu Cutler, and John
P.Cooksey. She has performed at Jazz Clubs, and has been a music
director of Spirit of Jesus Church. She taught piano at the Harbor
Conservatory for the Performing Arts for 7 years and worked as a
music librarian for the World famous Duke Ellington Orchestra for 3
years. She has been teaching at Manna House Workshops for 10 years.
