Item Description

4" tall, 7" wide at top adn 3.5" wide at base.

Your Bowl is made from Box Elder (Acer Negundo).  Box Elder is a species of Maple and is native to North America. Box Elder is a fast-growing tree and is sometimes considered a nuisance or invasive species growing mostly near creeks, streams and other wetlands. It is considered to be the lowliest Maple of all of the Maple species. The close grained and creamy in color wood is a relatively soft wood and can be rather plain or bland. What makes Box Elder special is the Color variations caused by the Elder Beetle. This beetle burrows into the trees and leaves behind a trail that turns into a pigment that creates incredible bright red streaking in the wood. It is sometimes so vibrant that Box Elder is also known as Flaming Maple. Natural spalting, underlying tones and hues are random in this wood making it a complete unknown until it’s turned, revealing nature’s beauty!  Due to its completely organic nature, there will never be two just alike. Yours is truly one of a kind.

Your Bowl has been hand turned and finished with several coats of oils and varnish. It is then polished and buffed by hand. It has also been finished with several coats of microcrystalline wax. This entire process was completed in my shop in Senatobia, MS.

To care for your bowl, simply wipe with a soft cloth occasionally. If needed a damp cloth can be used.
