Item Description

TITLE OF PIECE: 'A Memory We Have Yet To Make'

INSPIRATION FOR THE PIECE - ARTIST NEUROSCIENTIST MATCH UP:

Tresa Gibson matched with the Branch Out funded project of Cynthia Kahl from the University of Calgary and the Alberta Children's Hospital.

'Magnets for Depression & Tourettes'

When I visited Cynthia at the lab at the lab the first thing that struck me is how the treatment of magnets would help to filter out the busy static of neural synapses and calm the brain. This piece is grounded by the heavy Rich vase that is holding the flowers in place. The flowers represents the clarity of thought opening up as the magnetic impulses calm any static.

ARTIST BIO:

Tresa Gibson is recognized for her unique impressionist style that balances colour & depth. Tresa’s work has been described as a simultaneous sense of order & chaos.  She has been a thriving self-taught artist for over 15 years specializing in oil on canvas. Tresa best expresses herself with a palette knife, using oil on canvas. She enjoys creating works that balance colour and depth. Her subjects are diverse and her colour palette varied. Aspen forests display a wide array of warm tones in all seasons. Dark cityscapes enlighten the big city feel. Airy, bright and colourful florals contrast with pure passionate abstracts.

Tresa is best explained as a fiery ball of energy & enthusiasm who throws herself with abandon into every facet of her life.  Her art is an expression of her personal beliefs of optimism and spirituality. Her deepest source of inspiration is the laughter and enthusiasm she pulls from others with her unique fervent positivity.  With this goal in mind, she is highly dedicated to giving to her community by participating in many fundraising efforts yearly.

Tresa's work can be found in collections across Canada and the United States.  She is now carried in the following galleries:

TRESA GIBSON STUDIO -CALGARY
HAMBLETON GALLERIES -KELOWNA
